Mountain of the Lord

There are several spots in the mountains west of Manti, Utah, where stories are told of days when ancient people came here and made it not only a home but a temple.

We know where no temple is available even a small hill will do to give one the feeling of being on “higher ground”.

Topaz Japanese Interment Camp Ruins

On a hot, sunny, Memorial Day in 2013 we took a trip down to Delta, Utah with the intent of visiting the old Topaz Japanese Interment Camp. We stopped in town to ask directions and headed out to the desert in search of this place we had heard stories about, but had never seen.

Boxes of Treasure

Shortly after Mom passed over in 2006, Dad had us daughters and daughter-in-laws in the area, come over and go thru her clothing and her craft room to see if there was anything we wanted for us or the kids. We each took what we thought would be used.

In 2014 I was over at the house looking for something in particular a cousin had asked about. I went thinking maybe I would find the old family book and left with a few boxes of mom’s scrapbook stuff ~ saved over sixty some odd years to divide up between twelve kids and Dad ~ and we only went thru what was in the house, not the garage or, heaven forbid, the attic!

Heinz, Donna & Les Heinz '41Donna, wed announceLes and Donna had lived down the street from each other in High School. Les was a football player and Donna was involved in music and tennis among various other things, she was a social cookie!
